Minutes
In the last 6 days, Zip has streamed a total of 277,000 minutes of live classes across all our students.
Nice.
1,000,000 minutes soon!
FB Group!
Been working hard to get the FB Group rolling and create a community at Zip.
Three learnings.
First, giveaways are magical! 1-2 a week. They are an awesome way to spread a little hype/joy and keep folks engaged. In the post above, I randomly asked people to tell me their kid’s fav class. The response has been wild. Just 140+ comments like these:
So cool to see how different classes are being mentioned as favorites. I love it.
Second, asking our users to participate has been magical. At one point, all users were doing were posting nice things about Zip on the group and this is great! But, it can get old after a few weeks. So, I made this post:
After? Well, now we have like 10-20 posts a day with parents posting amazing resources that mesh well with Zip’s classes. Not just random resources. Freaking awesome. The group can become more and more valuable now! It pretty much becomes an extension of our product.
Third, learned to be very vulnerable with users and ask questions. Create a culture of openness with them. I think everyone who works at Zip has a pretty big ego (lol, in a good way), but, the ego is pretty much non-existent when it comes to users lmao. Users always wins and are the true leaders.
I give them a lot of room to criticize and poke with requests.
We’ve been so surprised with some requests and how many other users want the same thing. Here’s one example from 30 minutes ago:
Another one:
This was a really good one to from 10m ago:
And you already know I gotta reply w/ a Naruto gif.
A referral system
Our referral system has been working pretty well considering we only spent like 3 hours of brain cells coming up with it and building it lol.
One user has already referred over 100 people because she posted in like 10 homeschool groups on FB groups she’s in. Wild bro. I gotta mail her something dope now.
Worldwide
There is more to the world than just the USA. This is very easy for me to forget because the only countries I’ve ever been to are: Pakistan and the USA. I want to build a global company! And, it’s been cool to see Zip going a little global in the last three weeks by accident haha.
Korea is our 2nd biggest user base.
I went to track down where our Korean users came from and a majority of them came from this one post one of our users made on a Korean message board.
Translating the page is wild b/c it just shows a review on Zip. Even instructions on how to get into Zip back when we required a US phone # or when we released support for new ages ranges.
So I hit up the user who made the review above on the Korean message board and asked her why she likes Zip so much:
Very interesting :).
Intercom
Kids keep chatting with us on Intercom lol. Sometimes good. Sometimes bad. Always entertaining. Also, kids have the best class requests :).
Hmm.
ZipSchool Day.
I like the ring of that :).
Song of the Week
